November 8, 2006: Verefi exhibited our simulators at the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL)
annual meeting in Las Vegas, NV.
October 17, 2006: Verefi was awarded a Manufacturing Technology Internship Program grant. Sponsored by the
Technology Council of Central Pennsylvania (TCCP), Ben Franklin Technology Partners, MANTEC and Department of
Community and Economic Development (DCED), the grant provides matching funds for an internship position
working on a manufacturing, engineering, or technology-oriented project.
October 9-12, 2006: LapFAST, Verefi's laparoscopic suturing trainer, was introduced at our exhibit at the
American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress in Chicago, IL.
October, 2006: Awarded Phase II STTR grant to continue development on Intracranial Hematoma/Burr Hole and Trauma Flap
Simulator.
September 13-16, 2006: Dr. Haluck participated in the Virtual Reality Hands-On Endoscopic Simulation Workshop at the
European Association for Endoscopic Surgery, during the 10th World Congress of Endoscopic Surgery, Berlin.
September 6-9, 2006: Dr. Haluck participated in the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons (SLS) Annual Meeting and
Endo Expo in Boston, MA.
June 30, 2006: Dr. Haluck was appointed Chief of the newly created Section of Minimally Invasive/Bariatric Surgery
in the Penn State University Hershey Medical Center Department of Surgery. The creation of a separate section
for MIS reflects its significant role in the university's clinical, research and educational activities.
April 26-29, 2006: Verefi exhibited its products, including the new competitive and collaborative trainer
Head2Head, at the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) in Dallas, TX.
Dr. Haluck co-chaired the Hands-on Workshop. Dr. Lake presented "How Do I Pay for a Skills Lab Using
Simulation Technology?" in the course.
March 30, 2006: Dr. Haluck received an Entrepreneurial Achievement Award from the Kutztown University Small Business
Development Center. The award honors entrepreneurs who have brought their visions to life by creating
a competitive position in the marketplace and fostering sustained growth for their business.
March 29, 2006: Verefi Technologies, Millersville University, and the Penn State College of Medicine Department
of Ophthalmology were joint recipients of a Pennsylvania Keystone Innovation Zone (KIZ) grant entitled
"Final Development and Commercialization of a Capsulorhexis Cataract Surgical Simulator for Ophthalmology."
This grant provides funding to complete the development of a software module for a surgical simulator for
capsulorhexis skills training in cataract surgery.
